2023 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction
October 13, 2023
Today marks the 2023 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, centered around this year’s theme of “Fighting inequality for a resilient future”. By 2030, the world will face about 1.5 significant disasters per day, emphasising the urgency for accelerated efforts in building resilience.
The critical first step in building resilience begins with understanding the risks faced by your organisation, business, or country. As climate risk experts, Cress Consulting can help you reduce and manage your exposure by assessing risks, identifying solutions, and strategic planning that prepare you for evolving climate conditions and disaster readiness.
Some of the most vulnerable nations to disasters are Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the Pacific region, in which access to climate finance is critical to building resilience. Cress is working closely with two vulnerable North-Pacific countries, Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia, to map private sector initiatives and opportunities to build resilience against climate change and disasters.
