Driving Sustainability in the Water Industry: OzWater23 Highlights
May 16, 2023
The Australian Water Association (AWA) held its annual OzWater Conference, bringing together professionals from the water industry to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and discuss solutions to the challenges facing the sector. The conference was held from the 10th – 12th May in Sydney and featured a diverse range of speakers, workshops, and industry awards.
The conference began with a strong call to action on climate change from plenary speakers Mick Liubinskas, CEO of climate technology company network Climate Salad. Liubinskas encouraged delegates to believe in Australia’s capacity to contribute to solving the climate challenges facing the world and to believe in their own ability to take on the challenge. As a company committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility, Hydroflux is proud to have been a leader in this fight.
Hydroflux is honoured to have sponsored the event and John Koumoukelis, Chair of Hydroflux, was delighted to present SA Water with the National Organisational Excellence Award at the AWA Gala Dinner, which recognises organisations that have demonstrated exceptional performance in the water industry, particularly in the areas of sustainability, innovation, and customer service.
The AWA put together an outstanding program for OzWater23. The workshops and technical sessions offered hands-on learning opportunities for participants to deepen their knowledge and skills in areas such as water reuse, desalination, and stormwater management. The use of data and analytics in water management highlighted the growing importance of technology in the industry.
OzWater23 was a great success, providing a platform for professionals working in water to connect, share innovative ideas, and explore solutions to the challenges facing the industry. By promoting excellence and international engagement, the conference helped highlight the importance of the water industry in ensuring a sustainable future for our planet.
